- Notas: La canción la compuso Jeff Trott, bajo unas circunstancias muy especiales. Fue justo tras la ruptura con su pareja, que coincidió con el terremoto de Los Ángeles de 1994, en el que casi fallece bajo los escombros de su casa, pudiendo rescatar pocas cosas, entre ellas, la cinta en la que tenia su primera maqueta de este éxito.
La canción en sí, aplicable a muchas situaciones personales, es una reflexión sobre lo que debería hacernos felices, pero que en el fondo nos hace sentir mal, es decir, esas decisiones que tomamos para mejorar nuestra vida, pero que tienen un sabor agridulce porque en cierto modo sentimos que hemos dejado algo importante en el camino.
- 1. “…thrift store …” = Es el nombre que se da a las tiendas de segunda mano, especialmente a las que venden dichos objetos con fines benéficos, como las típicas tiendas de beneficencia.
- 2. “…give up…” = Un phrasal verb muy usado, indica el rendirse / abandonar una competición, o incluso el dejar algún vicio como el tabaco, bebida o café.
- 3. “…come 'round…” = Es un phrasal verb que se emplea en aquellas situaciones en las que alguien está de bajón anímico o de mal humor. “Come round” o “come around” indicaría “recuperarse” de dicha situación.
