- Notas: Inicialmente la letra de la canción la compuso Robert Hazard y hablaba de las mujeres modernas para las que el sexo (“to have fun”) era algo más que buscar tener hijos. Cindy Lauper le dio un giro a la canción convirtiéndola en una defensa de la independencia de la mujer y el poder tener una vida plena fuera de los roles tradicionales de la época. Por ello habla desde la perspectiva de las mujeres trabajadoras (de ahí lo de “when the working day is done”) e indica que las mujeres siguen ocupando un puesto secundario respecto al de los hombres (“mamma, dear, we're not the fortunate ones”).

- 1. “…gonna…” = Es bastante frecuente ver este giro que es una contracción de “going to” y que se usa mucho sobre todo en canciones en inglés americano.
- 2. “…hide her away…” = En sentido estricto “to hide away” se usa para hablar de esconder algo donde nadie lo vaya a encontrar, al usarlo referido a una persona, como ocurre en esta canción, se refiere a meterla en casa y no dejarla llevar una vida un poco independiente divirtiéndose con sus amistades.
