- Notas: Esta canción es el resultado de una discusión entre los componentes del grupo sobre lo que, en su opinión, las mujeres esperaban de su pareja. Su conclusión fue que la mujer espera que su pareja está ahí en los momentos en los que ella le necesitase, lo que dio origen al título ("reach out I'll be there") y al tema de la canción.
La canción parece dirigida a una mujer deprimida que parece estar al borde del suicidio, y a la que el cantante le promete amor eterno y apoyarla durante todos los momentos de dolor. Solo necesita pedir su apoyo, y él estará allí dispuesto a dárselo.
- 1. “…crumbling down…” = Es un modo muy poético de indicar que el mundo en el que uno vive "se desmorona" rompiéndose en pedazos.
- 2. “…Reach out…” = Este phrasal se usa para hablar de "extender la mano" buscando alcanzar algo, aunque en ese caso se usa para indicar el tender la mano a alguien pidiendo o dando ayuda.
- 3. “…see you through…” = Es un phrasal complicado de interpretar, puesto que se usa para hablar de apoyar a algo o de ser el elemento que mantiene a alguien a flote o que le ayuda a sobrellevar una crisis.
- 4. “…drifting out …” = El "drift" es el movimiento a la deriva de un bote salvavidas que a saber donde va a acabar, y que usado como verbo indica un movimiento lento en una dirección indeterminada, como la vida de la protagonista de esta canción que parece perdida en un mundo que se desmorona.
- 5. “…cherish …” = Usado para personas con las que se tiene una relación de amistad o de amor, indica apreciar o valorar al otro y tratarlo adecuadamente como resultado de dicho aprecio. Es decir, "to cherish" se usa para indicar el "hacer sentir bien" a alguien porque se le demuestra que se le valora.
- 6. “…loner…” = Un "loner" es alguien al que le gusta estar solo, un lobo solitario que no necesita de otros y que se sobra y se basta consigo mismo para vivir su vida.
