- Notas: 

La canción habla de una relación entre una tal Sally y el cantante que salió mal y mientras que el cantante ya ha rehecho su vida y está con alguien, la tal Sally se arrepiente de lo sucedido y trata de recuperar al cantante pese a que es misión imposible (“she knows it’s too late”). Ese intento de recuperar la relación hace que el cantante se enfade y Sally le pida que olvide los malos momentos que llevaron a la ruptura (“don’t look back in anger”).

- 1. “…fade away…” = Uno de esos phrasal verb muy literario o poético pero que se ve mucho. Se usa para indicar el final de algo (una historia personal, la fama de un grupo musical) que se va disipando poco a poco hasta desaparecer por completo, como los recuerdos que poco a poco se van borrando de la memoria o los grupos musicales que dejan de ser actualidad y cuando se retiran llevaban ya años haciendo conciertos  a los que cada vez iba menos gente.

- 2. “…walking on by…” = Otro phrasal, este facilito, significa pasar de largo cuando se va andando, y en la canción es como si el cantante y Sally se hubieran cruzado (en la realidad o metafóricamente) y hubiesen continuado cada uno su camino sin detenerse.
- 3. “…slides away…” = “To slide” es deslizarse, y al ponerle “away” es como si se hablara de que algo se nos escapa de las manos y se cae, como el espíritu (“soul”) de Sally cuando ve que él pasa de largo y se le cae el alma a los pies.
