- Notas:  Esta canción es rara, pero rara rara. Al principio parece ser una canción antimilitarista que nos habla de un soldado al que se le convence de que con sus actos evita que su gente sufra daño (“I am the one camouflage and guns,  risk my life to keep my people from harm.”). Parece incluso hablar desde la perspectiva del soldado que tiene que moverse con el arma lista para abrir fuego (“locked and loaded”, es decir, “cargada y acerrojada”) y que nunca sabe que se va a encontrar al otro lado de la puerta del edificio en el que tiene que entrar (“Through this doorway what's on the other side? Never knowing exactly what I'll find.”) y que busca justificar sus acciones indicando que solo hace lo que le han ordenado (“I'm just doing what I'm told.”).

Pero la realidad es que, de acuerdo con el cantante Dexter Holland del grupo Offspring, la canción trata sobre un pirado que cree que está cumpliendo la voluntad de Dios o buscando el bien mayor (“I believe I serve a greater good.”), que oye voces en su cabeza que le incitan a matar y que le martillean la cabeza (“It hammers in my head.”) haciéndole imposible pensar con claridad. Este loco coge un arma, se va a un colegio y se lía a tiros con los niños, de ahí lo de que no vaya a servir de nada esconderse detrás de los pupitres (“And you can all hide behind your desks now”) y gritar pidiendo al profesor que vaya a ayudarles (“And you can cry, 'teacher come help me!”), que nada va a salvarles de que los acribille, porque al fin y al cabo está haciendo lo que debe de hacer (“My aim is true”).

Es pues el loco el que se considera un soldado que lucha por el bien pero que no es más que un psicopata que mata niños en un colegio mientras en su mente se repite un salmo (“Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I fear no evil for Thou are with me..” “aunque camine por valles de tinieblas no temeré al maligno porque Tú estás conmigo”) para convencerse de que es una misión divina.

- 1. “…vested …” = “To vest” es un verbo muy formal para indicar el “estar investido de autoridad” para hacer algo, en este caso para liarse a tiros. Además, en jerga militar, el “vest” es el chaleco antibalas que se ponen los soldados (viene de “bulletproof vest”).

- 2. “…busting through…” = Se puede escuchar “busting through” o “bursting through”, ambas se refieren a irrumpir en un sitio de modo violento y por sorpresa, como cuando la policía hace una intervención y entra en una casa rápidamente antes de que los malos puedan dejar el mando de la videoconsola y sacar la pistola.
- 3. “…all hells breaks loose…” = Es una expresión del mundo militar y policial que indica el que de repente la situación se vuelve frenética, violenta y ruidosa porque la gente empieza a discutir y pelearse o porque empiezan a liarse a tiros desde todas partes. Es como si el infierno se abriera y salieran todos los demonios a armar lío.
