- Notas: La canción está bien, pero cuando uno lee la letra se le caen al suelo los sombrajos ya que uno jamás se imaginaría de que va la canción.

Empecemos con el título “tubthumping”, que es un término británico usado para hablar de políticos que hacen suya una causa popular para ganar votos. Por otro lado “Danny boy” es una canción irlandesa (aunque escrita por ingleses) que se usó mucho por los independentistas de Irlanda del Norte.

La canción pues es pues sobre las celebraciones de bar bebiendo alcohol a saco tras una protesta o manifestación de las que se solían hacer en la Irlanda del Norte durante la época de la Thatcher. Esto explica lo de “I get knocked down” (“me derriban”) “but I get up again” (“pero me levanto de nuevo”), que si bien podría entenderse como caerse por estar cocido, pero que indica que por mucho que les den van a seguir aferrándose a sus ideas independentistas y no van a rendirse.
- 1. “…Pissing…” = Uno podría pensar que “to piss” aquí se usa para indicar el echar un meo o hacérselo encima por beber tanto alcohol, pero no cuadra. “To piss” para los británicos significa también “beber”, y aquí se trata de eso, de pasarse toda la noche bebiendo (“pissing the night away”).
