Eye to eye stand
winners and losers,
hurt by envy, cut by

It's too late the
decision is made by fate.
Time to prove what
forever should last
whose feelings are so
true as to stand the test
whose demands are so
strong as to parry all attempts.

Notas: La canción es la historia de una relación que
se ha convertido en una pesadilla dolorosa a causa de la mentira y que se
relata como si fuese una pelea de navajas entre dos personas, haciéndose daño y
tolerándolo al principio para acabar mortalmente herido al final. Es por ello
que el título es “duel” (“duelo”) ya que la relación se ve como un duelo armado
entre dos personas.

1. “…recall the lie…” = “To recall” es un verbo muy parecido a “to
remind”, ya que se usa para indicar el recordar o que te venga de nuevo a la
memoria algo del pasado.
- 2. “…have you on
your knees…” = “To have / get
someone on her knees” es poner a alguien de rodillas en señal de rendirse y
reconocer la derrota, como para pedir perdón o clemencia.

3. “…to parry all attempts…” = El verbo “to parry” se usa para indicar el
rechazar los ataque o intentos de alguien para conseguir algo. Supone por tanto
resistirse con éxito a las intenciones de otra persona o grupo.
