- Notas: 

Según la autora de la canción las cosas se le ocurrieron sobre la marcha y no tienen un tema específico, es más una acumulación de sensaciones o sentimientos por los que estaba pasando (frustración, estancamiento, buscarle un sentido a la vida, etc.) que una historia en sí.

- 1. “…my life is still …” = “Still” no solo significa “aun” sino que como adjetivo se usa para hablar del agua sin gas (“still water”) y para hablar de cosas que están detenidas, en stand-by o estancadas, como la vida de la cantante según esta canción.

- 2. “…brotherhood of man for whatever that means …” = La “brotherhood of man” es la “hermandad de todos los hombres” de la que habla la Biblia cuando se quiere explicar que todos somos hermanos sin distinción de raza, sexo, etc. El “whatever that means” (“lo que quiera que eso signifique”) es un modo irónico de cuestionarse que esa hermandad sea cierta o que tenga algún sentido.

- 3. “…get real high …” = Uno se pone “high” cuando está exultante por algo, o cuando se ha cogido un colocón por drogas que le hace creerse capaz de parar un tractor con pala empujadora con las manos, hasta que este le pasa por encima.
- 4. “…What's going on …” = Es la forma coloquial de preguntar qué está pasando. En teoría este sería el título de la canción y no “what’s up” que no aparece en ningún momento en la canción. Pasa que “what’s up” ya era el título de una canción de Marvin Gaye.
