- Notas: A nadie nos gustan los lunes, pero la protagonista de esta canción lo lleva a otro nivel, puesto que se trata de Brenda Ann Spencer, una niña de 16 años que vivía en frente de la escuela Grover Cleveland en San Diego, y que un lunes por la mañana cogió un fusil y se lio a tiros con alumnos y profesores que estaban entrando a la escuela, hiriendo a 8 niños y a un policía, y matando a dos personas. Cuando fue detenida por la policía y se le preguntó porque lo había hecho, simplemente indicó "I don't like Mondays".
- 1. “…Overload…” = El "overload" es una sobrecarga que sufre un circuito, en este caso los circuitos son las neuronas cerebrales de la protagonista, a la que se le cruzaron los cables sin motivo e inició la matanza.
- 2. “…shoot……the whole day down…” = El phrasal "to shoot down" se usa para hablar de derribar un avión. Aquí el cantante lo usa para indicar el pasarse el día disparando a la gente.
- 3. “…peachy keen…” = Es una expresión americana que originalmente es "everything is peachy-keen" para indicar que todo a las mil maravillas, y que aquí el cantante fuerza para indicar que con la niña no todo iba bien.
- 4. “…bullhorn…” = Es el término americano usado para referirse al megáfono, que en este caso usó la policía al llegar al lugar de los hechos y con el que se le pidió que se rindiera.
- 5. “…tackles…” = Es verbo muy usado y que significa "abordar una situación" o "tratar de resolver un problema".
