- Notas: La canción trata sobre un amor de verano (el “hijo del verano” del título) que ya es cosa del pasado porque la al parecer la protagonista ya ha empezado otra relación con alguien a quien probablemente conoció durante el invierno (de ahí la última estrofa que habla de esa lluvia de invierno que la ha purificado y la ha hecho despertar de nuevo). En sí, es una canción dirigida a ese amor de verano para indicarle que todo se acabó definitivamente.
- 1. “…cleanse…” = Es un verbo usado para referirse a una limpieza en profundidad que podríamos traducir por “purificar”. Esta lluvia de invierno ha conseguido limpiar completamente su piel de la “suciedad” del verano que supuso la relación con ese amor de verano.
- 2. “…I'm over you…” = Con el giro verbal “to be over” se indica que uno ha superado una situación (normalmente negativa) o una enfermedad. En este caso lo que se ha superado es el dolor causado por ese amor de verano que ahora ya no le afecta en absoluto.
