- Notas: El título de la canción se corresponde con un dicho que parece que acuñó el padre de Kennedy y que significa más o menos que “cuando las cosas se ponen duras el hombre duro le echa más ganas y sigue adelante”. Esta canción se compuso como banda sonora de la película “La joya del Nilo” y el significado de la canción es bastante clara: Chico se enamora de chica y afirma que hará lo que sea por su amor .... aunque luego una vez se casen ya ni se molestará en levantar los pies cuando ella pase la aspiradora y al final acabará barrigón y divorciado y vistiéndose como un jovencito en un patético intento de ligar” (Todo lo que viene tras los puntos suspensivos no está en la canción).

- 1. “…tough - rough…” = Los dos términos pueden traducirse como “duro”, pero “tough” se refiere a personas correosas que aguantan todo lo que se les eche como los tipos duros del oeste, y “rough” es también “duro” pero aplicado a situaciones como a la vida de uno en las que la situación es difícil de aguantar.

- 2. “…make you stand and deliver…” = “Stand and deliver” era la expresión que Curro Jimenez usaría cuando atacase una carreta con ingleses rumbo al Piñón de Gibraltar, equivale al “la bolsa o la vida” y en la canción significa que la “obligará a darle el amor que él quiere”.
- 3. “…one-way ticket…” = Los conquistadores quemaban sus naves para dejar claro que no había vuelta atrás al llegar a una nueva tierra, los pobres como yo no tenemos otra opción que comprar “un billete solo de ida” (“one-way ticket”) para demostrar que no vamos a rendirnos.
