- Notas: La historia de la canción es curiosa, porque trata sobre el cantante, hombre casado cuando escribió la canción, que confiesa a un amigo que por casualidades del destino y sin quererlo ha conocido a otra mujer en Long Island y se ha enamorado de ella. Ni siquiera él entiende como puede haber pasado esto.

- 1. “…knock me cold…” = Se mezcla “to knock” o “noquear” referido al boxeo con “cold”, que en expresiones “stop me cold” significa parar bruscamente o en seco. Cuando va con “to knock” el adjetivo “cold” sigue manteniendo ese matiz de “bruscamente” o “en seco”, aunque en español no exista una expresión equivalente.

- 2. “…zapped…” = “To zap” se usa para hablar de matar, liquidar o librarse de alguien de modo intencional.

- 3. “…from the fat into the fire…” = En los países de habla inglesa no se fríe con aceite sino con grasa “fat”, de ahí que “saltar de la grasa al fuego” tenga ese equivalente español a “de la sartén al fuego”.
- 4. “…Love bug…” = Bug” significa “pulga” aunque en sentido figurado signifique “cualquier tipo de bicho” genéricamente hablando. Al aplicarle un modificador X antepuesto (“love” en este caso), pasa a significar el bicho de X (el bicho del amor en este caso). Así podemos encontrar “the travel bug” como “el gusanillo de viajar”, etc., etc.
