- Notas: El autor de la canción la escribió tras leer el relato de ciencia ficción “The sound sweep” que habla de un mundo donde la música está prohibida y hay una policía especial que se dedica a eliminar la todo sonido musical.

Esta canción y todas las demás del mismo disco tratan sobre las nuevas tecnologías (de los años 60-80) y sus efectos negativos, en este caso sobre la televisión que puso fin a los “radio star” o cantantes cuyas canciones copaban las emisiones de la mayor parte de las cadenas de radio.

- 1. “…rewind …” = El verbo “to rewind” se usa para hablar de rebobinar una cinta de casete (cuando existían) pero tiene el sentido metafórico de “volver a una situación anterior o pasada”, en este caso ese mundo en el que la radio no tenía la competencia de la televisión.
- 2. “…VTR …” = Son las siglas de “videotape recorder”, el vídeo de toda la vida para ver películas del videoclub antes de que se sustituyera la cinta por el DVD y todo eso.
