- Notas: La canción trata sobre el eterno tema de los amores perdidos. En este caso la relación que se trata es el primer amor de juventud, con el que se viven locuras y con el que se siente que se trata de almas gemelas, son inseparables y va a durar para siempre pero que al final acaban en un momento u otro.

La canción parte de un punto situado muchos años después cuando surge el arrepentimiento por la ocasión perdida. La cantante indica que ahora es rica, pero el dinero no consigue hacerla olvidar lo que vivió siendo joven. Se acepta que ya no tiene remedio y que si acaso habrá que esperar a vivir otra vida para poder volver a tener la oportunidad de partir de cero y tomar decisiones distintas.

- 1. “…make out…” = Este phrasal verb se usa mucho a nivel coloquial para hablar de darse el lote.

- 2. “…like we had a clue…” = “Not to have a clue” es algo así como “no tener ni pajolera idea”, su opuesta “to have a clue” sirve para indicar el “saber lo que va a pasar”.

- 3. “…got away…” = “To get away” se usa para hablar de escaparse de un sitio o escabullirse de una situación. Aquí se usa para indicar que es la otra persona quien nos dejó y se marchó a vivir su vida.

- 4. “…June ... Johnny Cash…” = June Carter y Johnny Cash fueron dos cantantes del siglo pasado que se casaron e incluso cantaron juntos, usándose en como modelo de relación en esta canción.

- 5. “…singing the blues…” = Los “blues” son canciones tristes que suelen tratar del estado de pena que uno está sintiendo. “To sing the blues” se usa para indicar el estar auto compadeciéndose o dando la tabarra sobre lo mal que se siente uno o lo malo que es el mundo con uno.
- 6. “…to face the music…” = Se trata de una expresión usada para indicar el afrontar las consecuencias de las propias acciones.
